EXIT delves into the manic depressive mind of Lucy and through her eyes we see that everyone is battling their own private war, hidden beneath the surface. With Lucy as their common denominator, each character demonstrates the process that we take to create an illusion of happiness; to detach; to run away from those emotions that are shameful to admit. The things we do that stifle our true selves and impair our ability to feel fear…and love.
With a small cast of six, two dancers have also been added to the mix in order to personify Lucy’s inner plight for normality, creating a very literal visual of what it is like to be choked by these intimate wars. Using several mediums of storytelling -music, movement and theater- our ensemble aims to de-stigmatize mental illness and create a platform for discussion.
